10 Tips To Manage Chronic Pain

 

Dealing with chronic pain can be overwhelming, but there are some great ways to manage your pain. Most importantly, you need to take care of yourself, both mentally and physically. We have put together 10 tips to help you cope with your chronic pain and boost your mood!

1.Sleep

When managing chronic pain, sleep should be your number one priority. First things first, make sure that you have comfortable bedding. A good nights rest will make all the difference in the morning. Second, take naps if you need them! A quick power nap will help recharge your batteries and boost your energy level.

2. Aromatherapy

Each essential oil has properties that can help ease your physical and mental pain. For example, the fragrant aroma of Lavender reduces anxiety and depression, while also producing a calming effect over the body. On the other hand, Peppermint Oil alleviates pain and soothes muscle spasms. Make sure to do your research in order to determine which Essential Oil would work best for you. Aromatherapy is a great treatment option for your chronic pain!

3. Exercise

Get active! It is important to get your blood pumping and your heart rate up. Start out by just taking a walk around the block, then slowly increase your pace and the amount of time you’re exercising. Before you know it you will be able to tell a difference and will enjoy the rush of all those endorphins! Gentle low impact exercise will be difficult at first but will help you in the long run. 9. Relationships

Keep your friends and family close! When someone is suffering from chronic pain they could have the tendency to close up and shut out the world. It is crucial for your mental health that you interact with others. Call a friend, go meet someone for a bite to eat or have a night out! At times this will feel like the last thing you want to do, but once you’re out of the house and enjoying yourself, you will be glad you went!

10. Educate Yourself

Knowledge is power! You need to understand where your chronic pain is coming from and why you are experiencing it. Understand what your body is going through and what you can do to help it through this process. Reach out to the chronic pain community,  find good resources and get the answers that you have been searching for!
